Figures, Ezell Introduce the Bipartisan Bridge Investment and Modernization Act

July 15, 2025

WASHINGTON – Today, Reps. Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) and Mike Ezell (MS-04) introduced the Bridge Investment and Modernization Act to reform the 2021 Bridge Infrastructure Program by extending and increasing funding for bridge infrastructure through 2031.

This bipartisan effort aims to streamline federal funding for major infrastructure projects, which will advance construction and repairs of bridges across the country. This includes projects like the Interstate 10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project, which are part of the critical highway that connects Alabama and Mississippi.

“This bill is a step in the right direction toward real advancements in projects like the I-10 Bridge and Bayway Project in my hometown of Mobile, Alabama,” said. Rep. Figures. “This will help communities be better connected by working to ensure the completion of infrastructure projects all across America.”

“Improving our infrastructure means safer travel, stronger communities, and a better economy,” said Rep. Ezell. “The I-10 Bridge and Bayway Project is vital to the Gulf Coast, and this bipartisan bill helps make sure it gets done. I’m proud to work with Rep. Figures to deliver the improvements Alabama, Mississippi, and the rest of the country need.”

The Bridge Investment and Modernization Act was also submitted into the Surface Transportation Reauthorization Portal by Figures and Ezell for consideration in the final reauthorization package, which is expected to pass later this year or early next year.
