January 15, 2025

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Shomari C. Figures announced  $724,912 in federal funding to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Troy, Alabama. This project involves installing 10 new EV charging stations at prominent locations across the city.

This investment marks a significant step toward closing the gap in public EV infrastructure. It is expected to encourage residents to adopt EVs and attract more EV drivers traveling along U.S. Highway 231. Improving this infrastructure will help local businesses thrive by drawing in more customers and contribute to creating a more sustainable, environmentally friendly community.

"We came to Washington to deliver real results for the people of Alabama,” said Congressman Figures. This grant is a critical investment in the future of Troy and the district. Expanding electric vehicle infrastructure not only supports sustainable development, but also stimulates economic growth for Troy and the entire Second Congressional District, driving business success across our community.

The Federal Highway Administration's funding will promote economic growth by providing residents and visitors with convenient charging options while supporting local businesses. Construction on the project is anticipated to begin this year.
