Rep. Figures Delivers $2.3 Million for Rural Community Projects in Tuskegee, Crenshaw County & Eufaula

December 8, 2025

WASHINGTON –Today, Congressman Shomari C. Figures (AL-02), a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, announced that he secured $2.39 million in funding for projects across Alabama’s 2nd District as a part of his continued effort to protect and strengthen rural communities. The funding, which will be awarded to the City of Tuskegee, Crenshaw County, and the Health Care Authority of the City of Eufaula was requested and secured by Congressman Figures during the annual appropriations process. The funding follows Congressman Figures’ announcement of $1 million for the City of Jackson Healthcare Authority to support infrastructure improvements and equipment upgrades at Jackson Medical Center.

“Strengthening the health, safety, and quality of life for rural communities is at the core of my work in Congress,” said Congressman Figures. “These investments will deliver benefits that will be felt directly by families across Alabama’s 2nd District. From improving emergency preparedness in Tuskegee to creating safe recreational spaces in Crenshaw County and expanding access to critical medical services in Eufaula, I’m proud to support projects that meet the everyday needs of the people we serve. I will continue fighting to bring resources home and strengthen the path forward for all our residents.”

The funding will be used for the following projects in the 2nd District:

City of Tuskegee - $1,015,000

The City of Tuskegee is receiving $1,015,000 to build a new public safety building to house the Police Department and Fire Department. In addition, the proposed facility would serve as a Resilience Center for citizens in the event of a major storm, power outage, or other disaster within the Tuskegee-Macon County Community.

Crenshaw County - $1,000,000

Crenshaw County is receiving $1 million to develop Crenshaw County Recreational Complex, a health and wellness complex focused on providing local children and families with a safe, modern space to play and practice sports. In addition to athletic facilities, the complex will feature a walking trail that offers a secure, natural environment for exercise and outdoor enjoyment.

Health Care Authority of the City of Eufaula - $375,000

The Health Care Authority of the City of Eufaula is receiving $375,000 to purchase MRI equipment for Medical Center Barbour. For the past six years, patients have been forced to wait four to six weeks to schedule MRIs in surrounding areas and travel a minimum of 50 miles for services. The funding will allow the facility to offer approximately 80 MRI procedures each month to Barbour County residents and surrounding coverage areas.
