WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) and Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) introduced the Registration Enforcement for Vehicle Operations of Known Evaders (REVOKE) Act, which will strengthen Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) authority to prevent chameleon carriers from exploiting USDOT registration systems to illegally operate on American roads.

Figures (AL-02) introduced the Restoring Opportunity for Advanced Education Act, legislation that would expand access to graduate and professional education by reversing provisions in H.R. 1, also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” that limit access to federal student loans for graduate and professional students.

Figures (AL-02) announced that he plans to introduce legislation to reverse President Trump’s plan to allow up to 300,000 metric tons of foreign ground beef to enter the United States tariff-free over the next 90 days—a move that gives little to no relief to consumers and serves as a significant disadvantage to American cattle farmers.

U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures, D-Mobile, talked with area farmers about the current state of agriculture in Alabama as well as the status of the nation’s Farm Bill at a town hall in Troy on Wednesday.
Figures, who serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, said as a freshman Congressman, he requested a seat on those committees.
