The Congressional Award was established by law in 1979, representing the highest honor bestowed upon American youth civilians. The program recognizes initiative, service, and achievement among young people (ages 14-24). It is is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive.
WASHINGTON – Today, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure passed Rep. Shomari C. Figures’ bipartisan bill, the Enhancing Science, Treatment, and Upkeep of America’s Resilient and Important Estuarine Systems (ESTUARIES Act) to reauthorize the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Estuary Program (NEP) through 2031.
WASHINGTON – Today, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure passed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Reform Act, which includes the bipartisan Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Act introduced in July by Reps. Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) and Chuck Edwards (NC-11).

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Shomari C. Figures (AL-02), led a bipartisan effort with the Republican chairmen of the Committees on Energy and Commerce; Education and the Workforce; and the Judiciary to introduce the Student Compensation and Opportunity through Rights and Endorsements (SCORE) Act to establish a national framework that stabilizes the use of student-athletes’ name, image, and likeness (NIL).
