Washington, DC – Democratic leadership has announced that Congressman Shomari Figures will serve as the Vice Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit. This makes Figures the number two Democrat on the committee that will be at the center of addressing key infrastructure issues in Alabama, including securing funding for the critically important I-10 Bay Bridge project in Mobile.

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Shomari C. Figures announced  $724,912 in federal funding to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Troy, Alabama. This project involves installing 10 new EV charging stations at prominent locations across the city.

Washington, DC -  "I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I do not believe that biological males should be allowed to compete against biological females in sports.

Alabama state law and our athletic governing bodies already prohibit this. And in the entire history of the State of Alabama, there has never been a male athlete to attempt to play on a female sports team.

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Shomari Figures (D-AL) was named to the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the House Agriculture Committee for the 119th Congress.

Figures is the only member of the Alabama Congressional delegation named to the Transportation and Infrastructure committee, and is one of two members from Alabama on the Agriculture committee.

Figures announced that Amtrak has been awarded a $21 million Restoration and Enhancement (R&E) grant from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to restore intercity passenger rail service along the Gulf Coast, specifically between New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama. This initiative underscores = our commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and enhancing connectivity for all communities.
